The Perry County Conservation District/Keep Perry County Beautiful has scheduled a CHEMSWEEP collection to be held on Saturday, December 5 from 9am to 1pm at the Tyrone Township Building located at 3129 Shermans Valley Road, Loysville PA 17047. This collection is being sponsored by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture in partnership with MXI Hazardous Waste Management Environmental Services.
This collection is open to all county residents in addition to the farming community. Hazardous waste materials need to be in their original labelled manufactured containers, no exceptions. This is to ensure the safety among our collection staff and volunteers and for the proper disposal of these materials. There are no fees associated with this event, however the collection will shut down once our maximum capacity of 13,000 pounds has been reached. Products that will be accepted include any of the following:
• Agriculture Pesticides
• Homeowner Pesticides – lawn & garden products, indoor & outdoor pest control products
• Herbicides – general weed control products
• Fungicides – general mold control products
• Rodenticides – mouse & rodent control products
MXI reserves the right to turn away any product that does not fall under the CHEMSWEEP program. Those who plan to attend are asked to please contact Kristie Smith, Watershed Specialist at 717-582-5138 or before Friday, December 4. Any updates
that may occur for this CHEMSWEEP collection will be available on our District website at and on our Perry County Conservation District (New Bloomfield, Pa)
Facebook page.
All Center for Disease Control guidelines and protocol to reduce the spread of COVID-19 will be followed during this event. Those who attend will be asked to remain in their vehicles, as this will be a drive-through unloading operation organized by staff and volunteers. Masks are required to be worn when social distancing is not possible. Provided is the link to the Pennsylvania Department of Health guidelines for public events.
