 Ag in the Classroom

Ag in the Classroom LogoEach year the Perry Conservation District and the Perry County Farm Bureau team up to sponsor a teacher from Perry County to attend the Ag in the Classroom workshop held at Penn State University.

Attention K-12 teachers!
If you are interested in:

  • Integrating fun-filled, hands-on agricultural projects into existing curriculum.
  • Receiving make-and-take projects and ready to use materials for the classroom.
  • Gaining a network of teachers and agricultural resource people locally and across the state.
  • Optional: Earning Act 48 hours and/or Penn State graduate credits.

Then Ag In the Classroom is for you!

For a week during the summer, teachers from all over the state visit farms and agricultural industries to learn how food moves from the source to the consumer. In addition, the program emphasizes the relationship between the food we eat and our environment.

Teachers are able to use the information they've received to integrate agriculture and information about the earth's natural resources into their curriculum. They are able to use their personal experiences to explain to their students how Pennsylvania's largest industry affects each of their lives everyday.

AITC will prepare you to bring agriculture to life in your classroom and across your curriculum. It is a standards-based program that makes real connections
